Sekka-shibori Snowflake Tie-Dye
Kadano Sarashisome
Founded in 1931, this old dyer's shop offers you the chance to tie-dye your own tenugui towel, which is a product of traditional Sakai industry.
With sekka-shibori (lit. “snowflake dyeing”), you first fold the original fabric into three, choose your preferred coloring, and dye the fabric to create flower-like patterns that resemble crystalline snowflakes. Visitors complete the entire process themselves, starting with ironing and folding the fabric
before moving on to the dyeing itself. The result: an original tenugui towel that's uniquely yours!
